Industry Evaluation and Assessment of Military and Civilian First Responder Technology Transfer (MCFRTT) (RULETC)

This study will result in a compilation of information that will enhance the transition of military technology applications available to the public safety and first responder communities. A key outcome of this study will be to ensure that the Department of Defense (DOD) is transferring technologies developed for military first responders to civilian first responders. In order to establish and facilitate viable commercialization of military and civilian first responder technology, a focused and comprehensive strategy is essential. To this end, a broad examination and assessment of what technologies exist needs to be performed.

This task will gather information and assess the first responder community to identify the most promising and productive collaborative opportunities for technology transition and homeland defense. First responders need new, reliable and interoperable equipment using developed technology in order to perform at the high levels required in both military and civilian situations. The objective is to be able to use the information collected to find the most critical areas and match them with the latest technologies available. There is a wide spectrum of companies and organizations claiming to do this now. The purpose of this effort is to review and collate available information from others into a manageable package that then can be used in DOD technology transfer efforts to support first responders.
