Kentucky State Police – Public Safety Mapping Project (KSP – PSMP)

PSMP Training

The Kentucky State Police (KSP) Public Safety Mapping Project (PSMP) will establish a consistent and comprehensive statewide database of map layers that allow for the effective delivery of emergency services, as well as the analysis of crimes and vehicular collisions. A primary PSMP goal is to establish a road network database with address ranges. In order to achieve this goal, the KSP is working in collaboration with multiple agencies and organizations at the state and local government level.

The JSC is responsible for data integration, collection, and quality control. This responsibility entails checking and converting address enabled road centerline data provided by Area Development Districts (ADD) into a format used by the KSP databases, and collecting and verifying GPS coordinates for landmarks such as fire stations, ambulance service locations, hospitals, and law enforcement agency locations.

Through the PSMP, the KSP will receive valuable data to assist the agency in effective delivery of emergency services, as well as in the analysis of crimes and vehicular collisions. Specifically, the KSP will receive this data in an electronic file of address-enabled road centerlines that have been synchronized with the KTC database, quality reports on address range and location point data, and an electronic file with additions to existing road centerline files and location point data files.
