Visiting Mongolian Security Executives Receive Graduation Certificates from EKU Justice and Safety Center

Mongolian law enforcement and security executives received graduation certificates from Eastern Kentucky University’s International Justice and Safety Institute on Friday, April 27, 2007. The men, who are CE&Os of their own security companies in Mongolia, were presented the certificates by Dr. Pam Collins, Executive Director of the Justice & Safety Center, and Dr. Gary Cordner, Director of the International Justice and Safety Institute in a ceremony held in the Justice and Safety Center located in the Stratton building at 10:00 a.m.

The three men, Chinzorig Dashnyam, Tseren Lkhagva, and Tungalag Banzragch, have been studying at Eastern Kentucky University since January 22, learning English and participating in an Executive Security Management and Marketing course at the College of Justice & Safety. They have been instructed by Dr. Collins, Ryan Baggett who is Deputy Director of Technology and Information Services, and Don Alwes, a law enforcement training consultant. While in Kentucky, the men toured the Dept. of Criminal Justice Training, observed SWAT training in Danville, and had fire arm training from Mr. Alwes. They were also invited to observe event security measures taken at Keeneland as part of their training.

The Mongolians first came to the U.S. in October 2005 to attend a conference held in Somerset on Police Challenges in the 21st Century and met Dr. Pam Collins, who later visited Mongolia to exchange ideas in law enforcement and security.

Friday’s ceremony included an introduction by Dr. Pam Collins, and a speech from Chinzorig Dashnyam thanking Eastern Kentucky University. The men were presented with certificates and a security uniform bearing their names, and they then presented medals to Mr. Baggett, Dr. Collins, Dr. Cordner, and Katherine Trent.
