Collins Invited to Speak at 2006 ASIS International Security Middle East in Bahrain
Dr. Pam Collins, Executive Director of Eastern Kentucky University’s Justice and Safety Center was invited to be a keynote speaker at the 2006 ASIS International Security Middle East in Bahrain. This year’s conference theme was entitled, “Security Solutions for a Booming Economy”. Dr. Collins conducted a workshop entitled, “Critical Infrastructure and Continuity of Operations in a Post 9/11 World”.
ASIS is the largest non-profit organization dedicated to security issues with more than 33,000 members worldwide, and has organized a conference in Bahrain for more than 20 years.
The conference and the accompanying exhibition highlighted the most modern concepts and the latest developments in security, safety and communications through a number of themes which will be presented by a number of internationally renowned speakers in corporate, plants and establishments' safety and security sectors such as Eng. Khalid Al Faleh, Senior Deputy President for Industrial Relationships, Saudi Aramco, Mr. Richard Clark, an expert in terrorism affairs and engineer of anti-terrorism policy in the former US President Bill Clinton's Administration, Dr. Jessica Stern, a lecturer at Harvard University who is an expert in international terrorism. and author of a number of books in the related field and Dr. Flynt Leverett, who is an expert in the international energy affairs and former executive director of Middle East affairs in the National Security Council of the White House until 2003.
Over thirty workshops and lectures were presented by a number of specialists on topics including corporate security and safety, security of information and e-commerce networks, communications, security of financial institutions and banks, anti-money laundering, maritime security, airport security, anti-terrorism, security of oil facilities and petrochemical plants. Moreover, lectures on crime-combating, protection of VIPs, management and leadership science and disaster management were also be presented.
The Conference included an exhibition where a variety of specialized companies demonstrated their products in the field of security equipment and state-of-the-art technologies.
