Justice & Safety Center
The Justice & Safety Center (JSC) was formed in response to the states designation of the College of Justice & Safety at EKU as a Program of Distinction. The designation was a result of the College's 25 years of commitment to providing education, research, and service to public safety and security agencies throughout the nation.
The mission of the JSC is to provide public safety and security with the following:
- Research and evaluation
- Testing and prototype development
- Training and technical assistance
By examining the "best practices," conducting national assessments and surveys, developing test beds, pilot programs and advanced distributed learning, the JSC has established itself as a leader in these areas.
Moreover, the JSC has strived to work collaboratively with various organizations and agencies in order to become a force multiplier for the development of technology tools. These efforts have focused on avoiding duplicative efforts and worked to build on the strengths of each partner.
This country faces one of the most challenging times in its history. Now more than ever law enforcement and public safety will play critical roles in addressing the issues at hand. It is our hope that through our work, those who meet these challenges on a daily basis will be positively impacted.
